Imagine the satisfaction of becoming aware and knowledgable about nature. You could tell what season it is just by the smell in the air; be able to identify almost every native plant in the local forests, and tell which are medicinal or poisonous. What would it be like to know where you are only by the different sounds of the stream? Imagine being able to tell what animals have been around by their tracks, and what animals might be present by listening to the bird calls.
Environmental Connections Outdoor School is an organization that strives to inspire youth’s connections with the natural world around them. We appeal to the interests of students in teaching about the world through a sensory and interdisciplinary approach.
We are based out of Olympia Washington, and we serve a large portion of the Puget Sound Region. Programs are offered for children as young as four, through teenagers as old as sixteen. Most of our programs are for elementary-age children. We are proud to offer very low student:teacher ratios, and compassionate, enthusiastic, education that focuses on the development of the whole child.
If you are interested in learning more about our programs, please feel free to sign up for a drop-in visit day using the following link. This is a great way to get a feel for the program in person, and let your student experience a day in the life of ECOS. It is also a great chance to chat with program staff and ask any questions you may have. This is the fastest and most direct way to contact us and learn more about our programs. We love sharing the ECOS experience with folks in person.
